VASCO: Within 24 hours of the crime, Vasco police arrested one out of two accused persons involved in a day light burglary reported at Jairamnagar in Dabolim on Monday afternoon.
According to the Vasco police, a complaint was lodged by Ramesh Parsekar, working as planning assistant at MPDA Vasco and having bungalow at Jairamnagar, that two accused persons entered into the servant room of his bungalow by breaking the door open and burgled cash and gold ornaments worth Rs 15,000 and also made unsuccessful attempt to break open the main door of his bungalow.
“The complainant had gone home for having lunch and when he reached near the main gate of his bungalow at about 1.20 pm, he noticed two persons attempting to break open his main door lock. Thus, on noticing the complainant, the burglars fled away by jumping over the compound wall through the bushes, leaving a active scooter behind, PI Nolasco Raposo said.
During course of investigation the police traced the owner of scooter based at Margao. “It was revealed to us by the scooter owner that the accused persons had hired the scooter from a city based hotel in Margao. Subsequently, the police team rushed to the hotel and managed to catch hold of one of the accused person namely Mukesh Malvi, a resident of Gaziabad UP,” Raposo said.
Part of the stolen property has already been recovered and the accused has been placed under arrested. Police have intensified their search to trace the second accused.
