Bal Rath staff salaries hiked

PANJIM: Acting on a pending demand, the government through a notification on Tuesday finally increased the remuneration paid to Bal Rath drivers and attendants by 10 percent.

PANJIM: Acting on a pending demand, the government through a notification on Tuesday finally increased the remuneration paid to Bal Rath drivers and attendants by 10 percent. The decision to increase the remuneration had been earlier taken by the cabinet. The drivers will now be paid Rs 11,000 a month, up from Rs 10,000 a month and attendants/cleaners will get a monthly honorarium of Rs 5500, up from Rs 5000.
Hundreds of bus drivers and attendants, working for the government’s Bal Rath school buses, had been demanding a hike in their salaries, to keep up with inflation along with regularisation of their jobs.
