PANJIM: Trimanool Congress Party (TMC) supremo and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Saturday hinted at forging pre-poll alliance with regional parties while closing the doors on any such alliance with the Congress.
Speaking to media persons informally, Banerjee said that she had a meeting with local leaders and made a strong case for pre-poll alliance with regional parties in the State.

“I want to see regional parties are strong. If they are strong, Goa will be strong. If Goa is strong, India will be strong,” Banerjee said,
Asked whether there was any possibility of working with the Congress party both at the Centre and at the State-level, the TMC supremo said, “I cannot say anything right now because they (Congress) did not take us seriously. Modi is going to be more powerful because of Congress. Congress had lot of opportunities. Why did Congress contest against my political party in West Bengal? Why did they not contest against BJP? she asked.
Banerjee said that she cannot talk to other political parties since they have their own freedom, own choice and set up. “I can talk to regional parties who are facing problems from the BJP,” she said and reiterated that Goa is faced with problems of unemployment, taxi drivers, fishermen, farmers and issues related to the mining sector.
“Goa has everything, but leadership is lacking. Let us build up Goa, so that Goa can stand on its feet and be the beginning to end the BJP rule,” she said.
