PANJIM: VAdm Anurag G Thapliyal, AVSM, Director General, Indian Coast Guard (DGICG), visited Goa Shipyard Limited on August 27.
This was the maiden visit of VAdm Thapliyal to Goa Shipyard since he took over as DG ICG. During the visit, a presentation was made to DG ICG regarding the growth of GSL.
DG ICG was conducted around the shipyard by RAdm (Retd) Vineet Bakhshi, VSM, CMD, GSL who apprised him of the modernization plans and progress thereof. During the visit, VAdm Thapliyal also reviewed the progress of the six new generation Offshore Patrol Vessels indigenously designed and being constructed by GSL for the Indian Coast Guard. GSL had signed a contract for the construction of six Offshore Patrol Vessels (OPVs) for the Indian Coast Guard on May 9, 2012.
