Dixon Vaz eyes 2027 Benaulim seat, says Colva turning into ‘next Calangute’

Benaulim-based social worker Dixon Vaz has indicated his intent to contest the 2027 Goa Assembly Elections from the Benaulim constituency. Vaz, known for his involvement in community development, voiced concerns about Colva’s rapid transformation, claiming it is slowly turning into another Calangute due to unchecked commercialisation. Speaking to reporters, he said several residents have expressed disappointment with the current development model, which they believe is eroding Colva’s natural charm and local culture.

Vaz added that members of different political and community groups have approached him to step into active politics, recognising his long-standing contribution to the area. Emphasising that his decision will be guided by public sentiment, he said, “I will take my supporters and the people of Benaulim into confidence before making a final decision.” His possible entry into the political arena has stirred fresh discussions in the coastal constituency ahead of 2027.
