Don’t link Aadhaar card with LPG connection: GOACAN

MARGAO: GOACAN issued an appeal on Thursday urging LPG consumers across Goa not to link their Aadhaar cards to their LPG connections, as there is no subsidy involved in the LPG price.

In recent days, a viral message has circulated stating that Aurora Gas Agency and Margao Gas Distributor, in collaboration with local bodies, have organised a camp at the Curtorim village panchayat hall from May 13 to 18. The purpose of the camp is to facilitate the linking of Aadhaar cards with gas connections and perform EKYC biometric verification.

In response to the aforementioned camp, GOACAN issued a stern warning to all LPG dealers It cautioned that any attempt to promote the compulsory linking of Aadhaar cards or hold camps to entice LPG consumers to do so, would result in action under the Consumer Protection Act of 2019.

There is no notification of any government authority that makes Aadhaar card linkage with LPG

connection compulsory, the NGO further stated.  GOACAN said that LPG

consumers who were being coerced into linking their Aadhaar card, should file complaints with the Consumer Cell of the Department of Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs (DCSCA).
