PANJIM: Admitting that drains in Panjim have been clogged while executing the works under Smart City Mission, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Imagine Panaji Smart City Development Limited (IPSCDL) Mamu Hage on Sunday said that the drains would be cleaned and the ongoing smart city works will be completed before the onset of the monsoon.
“Ongoing works will be finished before monsoon. I have told the contractors and have also checked the drains…a lot of them are choked. I have asked them (contractors) to desilt and ensure that drains are not obstructed,” Hage said, interacting with media persons after carrying out a site inspection of Smart City works in Panjim.
Hage, who is also North Goa Collector, further said that strict check and routine inspections will be carried out of the sites to ensure that there is no imminent danger from the monsoon perspective and especially in view of G20 summit-related meetings scheduled in Panjim from April 17.
“Right now, two of our major works are going on in internal roads of the city. Ideally, it has a deadline till June. But then presently, what we have undertaken is just a small part of the entire project. So, we are focusing on completing present stretches only. Works on major stretches are still remaining and we will not take them up during monsoon. We are planning to complete the present stretches before the G20 meetings begin,” the IPSCDL CEO said.
