He, however, clarified that only those illegal houses on the government land will be accommodated, which were built till year 2000. For the new ones, he left the decision to the government.
The minister was replying to a calling attention moved by Congress MLA Mauvin Godinho regarding the non implementation of the report of the commission. D’Souza assured to finalize the report by March-end to further submit to the government before acting on it.
“Government is committed to resolve the issue before the next (monsoon session of the legislative) Assembly,” he said adding that the Bill and amendment of the Code of Comunidade will also be put in place.
“…The commission has submitted its opinion on a private member’s bill of Godinho viz opinion on ‘The Goa Legislative Diploma No 2070 dated April 15, 1961 (Amendment) Bill, 2014’. The same is examined by government and as financial implications are involved in the matter, comments/concurrence of Finance Department is sought to be obtained,” the deputy CM said.
