PANJIM: The elections to elect the new Zilla Panchayat Chairperson and Deputy for North and South Goa will be held on January 8.

The Directorate of Panchayat has issued a notification, wherein it has reserved the post of South Goa ZP chairperson and North Goa deputy Chairperson to women for a period of five years 2020-25.
The ruling BJP has won both the ZP seats by winning 19 constituencies in North and 14 in South. A total 49 ZPs have been elected and were administered Oath of Secrecy, last week.
The election for Navelim ZP is been countermand. The BJP core committee under Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant is expected to shortlist the names for the post of chairperson and deputy, shortly.
