Excise gives a booster to Goa biz

PANJIM: In the interest of ease of Doing Business and to facilitate industries, the Department of Excise on Friday declared that it will now renew all licences, except establishments and occasional licences, for a period of five years by granting a rebate of 10 per cent.

A circular issued by the Excise Department states that a rebate of five per cent will be given on total licence holders if he makes an advance payment of licence fee for next three financial years from 2021 till 2024 and a rebate of 10 per cent if the licence holders makes an advance payment for next five year that is from 2021 till 2026. Both these payments will have to be made on or before March 31 this year.

Any enhancement or decrease in the fees during the period the validity of licence will not be applicable to a licence renewed on payment of such advance fees, the circular states.
