Farmers in Maloli Receive Affordable Pre-Fabricated Biogas Units to Boost Sustainable Farming

Farmers in Maloli village of Valpoi have been provided with pre-fabricated biogas units aimed at promoting the efficient use of cattle dung while supporting sustainable agricultural practices.

Speaking on the initiative, official Vishwanath Gawas said the biogas units would be both practical and cost-effective for local farmers, particularly those with a smaller number of cattle. He explained that while conventional biogas plants typically cost several lakhs to construct, these pre-fabricated units are significantly more affordable, making them accessible to marginal and small farmers.

Gawas added that apart from generating biogas for household use, the residue left after gas production can be effectively used as organic manure for agricultural fields, further benefiting farmers.

Highlighting their utility, he noted that each unit has the capacity to produce enough gas to cook food for a family of seven to eight members. The initiative is expected to help reduce dependence on conventional cooking fuels, lower household expenses, and encourage environmentally friendly farming practices in the region.
