For the first time in the history of the village, the feast mass was concelebrated – led by Archbishop Filipe Neri Ferrao as the main celebrant.
A large number of devotees and foreigners from every nook and corner of Goa flocked to the Chapel of Nossa Senhora Dos Remedios at Cuelim with great reverence and devotion to celebrate the annual feast.
Following the tradition, three young boys from the villages of Cansaulim, Arossim and Cuelim were selected to enact the Three Kings also known as the Magi or the Wise Men from the East, who followed the guiding star to worship the Child Jesus.
These three boys including Alec Gracias from Cansaulim, Nolan Bosco Fernnades from Arossim and Zayne Reuben Sequeira from Cuelim travelled on horseback through three different traditional footpaths and converged some distance away from the Chapel of Nossa Senhora dos Remedios on the hill at Cuelim, and proceeded to the chapel together. After the high mass, they then returned home by a different way, totally transformed resolving to follow Christ.
Archbishop Ferrao in his homily said, “Just like the Wise Men who not only travelled many miles, but must have faced many difficulties in finding the True King, our journey towards holiness will begin with each one of us searching for Jesus finding him and following him wholeheartedly. We pray for those struggling with obstacles to prayer that the Holy Spirit will give us the grace to persevere’ that in it we desire to ‘seek the face’ of the King of Kings and worship Him alone, leading to intimacy and a ‘transforming union’ (John of the Cross).”
