MARGAO: Adv Eric Coutinho on Wednesday filed a reply to the notice issued to Francis Pereira by the collector, asking him to show cause as to why he should not be prohibited from entering South Goa.
In his reply, Adv Coutinho has termed the show cause notice as bad in law as it is based on seven FIRs filed by the police against an unknown person and there is no direct link to Francis in those FIRs.
“There was only one FIR filed against Francis 18 years ago in 2000 and hence the show cause notice could not have been issued based on just one FIR,” it is argued.
Besides, it has also been pointed out that the notice is inconsistent with the report filed by the police as the notice refers to the associates of the accused while the police do not name his associates anywhere.
It may be recalled that the Superintendent of Police South has filed an application before the Collector South seeking to extern Francisco from South Goa district and the matter will now be taken up on April 25.
