Gonzaco was personally present in the chamber of the Chief Officer along with complainant Savio Dias.
At the hearing conducted by Chief Officer Naveen S L on Wednesday, the municipal engineer was directed to conduct fresh inspection of the two structures within two days in the presence of all parties. The case will now come up for hearing on January 23.
This is the first hearing conducted by the CO since November 5 after the Director of Municipal Administration Elvis Gomes issued directions to the MMC to hear and dispose of the complaint lodged by Dias within three months. The incumbent CO has just a fortnight left to dispose of the complaint.
In the meantime, the Municipal Chairperson filed an application before the CO seeking all documents relied in by the complainant in the interest of natural justice and fair play and to file a detailed reply to the complaint filed by Dias.
Gonzaco further submitted that the complainant has been in inimical terms with him due to political reasons, having contested and lost the municipal election against him in the year 2005. Incidentally, while the MMC has ordered fresh inspection of the illegal construction of the Municipal chairperson, the SGPDA had last week issued a notice to Gonzaco asking him to show cause why the illegal constructions in front and behind the building at Mungul should not be demolished.
