Full scale ops at Dabolim from today

Vasco: After 60 days of restricted flight operations at Goa Airport, the navy which manages the Air traffic control at Dabolim Airport withdrew its notice to airmen (NOTAM) to mark the beginning of full scale operations at Dabolim airport since 4 am on Monday.

  The NOTAM was issued few days in the month of September putting restricted movement of air traffic from 10 pm to 4 am from October 1 to November 30, as the navy officials had planned and executed the extension work on the runway shoulders by extending the runway by 3 metres on both sides, besides that the work of construction of drainage in order to facilitate easy flow of rain water.
Although the naval authorities were expecting that the runway repair work would be completed within 45 and had opted to seek buffer time of 15 days only to avoid any confusion over any delay in completion due to technical or natural reasons however still little portion of the said works remained pending due which now the naval authorities would now again issue NOTAM in March.
“Operations at the Dabolim Airport would be in full swing from Monday morning (4 am) as most of the work undertaken by us has been completed however as little work remained pending we would again issue NOTAM for 15 days in the month of March. Actually, we still need to carry out pending works on the shoulders in the month of March while the work on the drainage would continue without affecting the flight operations and the drainage portion closer to the runway will be done only in march” Naval sources informed Herald.
