MARGAO: The Goa Forward Party (GFP) has demanded the formation of an all-party State Advisory Committee (SAC) headed by the chief minister.
The GFP says that their demand comes due to the seriousness of the looming crisis and due to what has happened in Goa in the last couple of weeks vis-à-vis ensuring public health and public sustenance and also due to the type of leadership the state is experiencing.

Giving reasons for the demand, GFP Vijai Sardesai said that there is lack of sound judgment; for example, the failure of the government to recognise the gravity of the health emergency caused by COVID-19 by busying itself with the inconsequential Zilla Panchayat elections till the March 24. “This amounts to immaturity,” he said.
Accusing the government of lacking the ability to handle pressure and indulging in “partisan politics”, he said, a meeting was held only of 30 MLAs “in the face of a serious crisis affecting the State.”
“There is an urgent need for team leadership in this looming crisis situation. It will help to take mature and wiser decisions. Experience of ex-CMs will be a boon in this crisis-situation to come to mature and wiser decisions with varied and experienced inputs,” Sardesai said.
“Keeping in mind that extraordinary situations demand extraordinary solutions, the GFP demands the immediate formation of an all-party State Advisory Committee (SAC) headed by the chief minister which will work in tandem with the State Executive Committee (SEC) that is already in place and led by the Chief Secretary,” he added.
