PANJIM: While the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has claimed that it has proposed some radical exam reforms, the Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education has worked out new mechanisms that would make the process of reevaluation of class X and XII papers easier this academic year onwards.

The new system of reevaluation will apply for the ongoing public exams, results of which are proposed to be declared in May.

Senior officials of the Goa Board have however refrained from divulging details on the new system but said that the new system will enable faster and easier re-evaluation. Goa Board allows re-evaluation and verification of marks of students each year. However, the board does not allow students to get a digitalized version of their evaluated answer-sheets on-line, as done by CBSE.

The CBSE re-evaluation process is completely online — from availing a copy of the answer-sheet in digitalized form.

The Goa Board said that this would need much more time, money and technology to implement. Goa Board receives a large number of applications for re-evaluation and verification of marks after the declaration of results.

Meanwhile, Goa Board has expressed satisfaction over the simultaneous conduct of the class X and XII exams. No major problems have been reported from exams centres across the State  thus far.
