PONDA: The re-election to the 12-member Board of Directors of Goa Dairy has been scheduled on May 7. The elections are declared by the registrar of cooperative societies as per the direction of Cooperative Tribunal. It may be recalled that the election to the Board of Directors held on January this year, wherein 12 persons were elected unopposed, was annulled by the Cooperative Tribunal.
In January, 37 members had filed nominations, however, during scrutiny, the returning officer had rejected 25 nomination papers of opposition groups due to which twelve members were elected unopposed including Goa Dairy Chairman Madhav Sahkari. Later, twelve of the 25 members whose nomination papers were rejected had challenged the order and the election process of returning officer in the High Court.
