PANJIM: The Goa Police on Monday issued advisory in view of the three-day visit of President of India, Droupadi Murmu in the State from August 22.
During her visit to the State, Murmu will attend various programmes/events. The civic reception will be hosted in honour of the President at Durbar Hall, Raj Bhavan, Dona Paula at 6.30 pm on August 22. Governor P S Sreedharan Pillai and Chief Minister Pramod Sawant will be present.
The traffic will be stopped for a while from Goa Medical College (GMC), Bambolim to Dona Paula and from Dona Paula to GMC on Tuesday from 4 pm onwards for 10 to 15 minutes; on Wednesday from 3.30 pm onwards for 10 to 15 minutes and 5.10 pm onwards for 10 to 15 minutes and on Thursday from 9.50 am onwards for 10 to 15 minutes.
On Wednesday, the President will deliver the address at the 34th convocation of Goa University at Durbar Hall, Raj Bhavan, at 10 am and will also interact with vulnerable tribal group. Later in the evening, she will address the members of Goa Legislative Assembly at Assembly Complex, Porvorim at 4 pm.
On August 24, the President will visit Fort Aguada followed by her visit to Basilica of Bom Jesus, Old Goa and Shantadurga Temple before returning to Delhi.
Meanwhile, invitees, other than VIPs, who would be attending the civic reception at Durbar Hall are advised to take the route to Dona Paula via Goa University, Taleigao for smooth flow of traffic as the President will place wreath at the Martry’s Memorial, Azad Maidan, Panjim and leave for Raj Bhavan at 4.45 pm.
So also, the representatives of local self-government bodies/HoDs/media personnel and others who would be attending the civic reception are requested to use the parking lot of GTDC/NIO at Dona Paula to park their vehicles and move to Raj Bhavan, Dona Paula by using the vehicles, which will be kept at the parking lot to facilitate conveyance to the venue.
Invitees are also requested to carry their invite which is not transferable and seated by 5.30 pmand also not to carry handbags, briefcase, cameras, arms and ammunition, etc. No remote control car keys too will be permitted inside the hall and will have to be kept at a special counter set up at the venue.
The aforesaid representatives of local self-government bodies/HoDs/media personnel and other citizens are advised to cooperate during the visit in the larger interest and due to security reasons.
The traffic advisory has requested the public to plan their travelling/movements accordingly during the specified date and timings and to cooperate with the traffic police.
