Goa ST delegation meets Union Min over seat reservation

Urges Minister Munda to constitute Delimitation Commission to determine seats for STs; Regularisation of sand mining discussed with the Union Environment Minister

PANJIM: A delegation of Scheduled Tribes (ST) leaders met Union Minister of Tribal Affairs Arjun Munda in New Delhi, and urged him to constitute Delimitation Commission to determine seats to be reserved for ST communities in Goa Legislative Assembly.

Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant submitted a memorandum to the Union Minister demanding the constitution of Delimitation Commission for determining seats to be reserved for ST communities in the Goa Legislative Assembly.

 Ministers Aleixo Sequeira and Govind Gaude, Speaker Ramesh Tawadkar, United Tribal Alliance Associations (UTAA) president Prakash Velip, former MLA Vassudev Meng Gaonkar, ZP Member Dhaku Madkaikar and Anthony Barbosa were part of the delegation, 

Earlier, Sawant met Union Minister for Environment, Forests & Climate Change Bhupender Yadav, and discussed regulation of sand mining activities, the draft notification concerning the Western Ghats, and rectifications to Coastal Zone Management Plan (CZMP) 2011.
