PANJIM: Goa Tourism is set to celebrate World Tourism Day on Tuesday to foster awareness on the importance of tourism and its social, cultural, political and economic values. The theme this year is ‘Tourism for All – Providing Universal Accessibility’.
“We have achieved milestones in taking Goa Tourism to the world and it is our endeavour to ensure that tourists with disabilities also enjoy Goa tourism’s facets in a free and comfortable manner. Goa Tourism along with its stakeholders has a responsibility to cater to the needs of tourists, who are differently-abled, and we assure that all our tourist spots and tourism projects will give adequate accessibility to all such tourists who are in need of it,” Tourism Minister Dilip Parulekar said.
Goa Tourism and India Tourism officials will welcome tourists arriving on the first flight at the airport and as part of CSR activity a special boat cruise has been arranged for special children. A blood donation camp will be organised by Tourist Guide Association.
There will also be a lecture by a team specialised in disabilities and accessibilities led by Commissioner of State Disabilities Commission, Anuradha Joshi, which will be followed by a musical and cultural programme at Paryatan Bhawan.
