Governor visits INS Gomantak

VASCO: Governor Mridula Sinha paid her first visit to the Naval headquarters INS Gomantak, Vasco, on Saturday. Sinha was accorded a warm welcome by Flag Officer Commanding Goa Area Rear Admiral Balvinder Singh Prahar and was later given a guard of honour.

Speaking to Herald, Sinha said she was very happy and honoured to visit the naval headquarters at INS Gomantak. “Since independence, the navy has played a very important role in maintaining the country’s security,” Sinha said.
When contacted, Rear Admiral Prahar said it was normal visit of the governor to the naval headquarters.
“This was the governor’s first visit to the naval headquarters and we will highlight the role played by the navy and different establishment in Goa,” said Rear Admiral Prahar. 
“While this is a short visit, we will invite her again and will interact with her in detail and brief her about our activities,” he added.
Prahar further added that the Vice President of India is scheduled to visit the naval headquarters on Sunday.
