SANGUEM: The demand for ab independent office of the deputy collector for Sanguem will soon become reality with official communication to this effect expected to be made shortly. Reliable sources revealed the Government had already finalised the process of placing a Deputy Collector in Sanguem taluka.
The source revealed that though the procedure for opening the new office in Sanguem was complete, the factor hindering the appointment of the Deputy Collector for Sanguem was a suitable premise to house the office. ‘Herald’ inquiries revealed the Government had a first choice of setting up the Office of the Deputy Collector in the Government premise which presently houses the Office of the Sub Registrar. The other option being considered is to house the new office is the under construction building of the Sanguem Municipality Administrative Complex which is set to be inaugurated in a couple of months.
The building which is being constructed by the Goa State Urban Development Agency is getting finishing touches and is likely to be inaugurated in August. Sanguem MLA Prasad Gaonkar partially confirmed the development. He said the premises for housing the new office of the Deputy Collector will be finalized in a matter of four to five days. Once the office premises are finalized, the appointment of the first Deputy Collector for Sanguem Taluka will be done, claimed Gaonkar.
Gaonkar did not rule out the possibilities of the new office being housed in the Office of the Civil Registrar cum Sub Registrar which is presently under utilized. However more stress would be laid in housing the new office in the new municipal building, informed sources.
Meanwhile the citizens from Sanguem who have been demanding the deputation of an Independent Deputy Collector to Sanguem will be elated.
In the absence of the Office of the Deputy Collector in Sanguem, people from Sanguem taluka had to travel to Quepem for getting their work done due to which people from Sanguem are facing great hardships particularly on account of time involved in travelling to Quepem. Moreover even for small matters like obtaining caste certificates, sound permission, partition Orders, etc.
