PANJIM: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Monday said that the government is considering replication of Panjim Smart City works in 12 urban local bodies in the State for which he said that the government has initiated the process of preparing master plans.
“At present, preparation of plans in three urban local bodies, are already underway. We want to replicate the works in these local bodies that are being executed in Panjim under the Smart City Mission. It can be achieved over the next 25 years,” Sawant said addressing the gathering at the inaugural ceremony of the Smart Cities Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) conference on ‘Data and Technology’ being held at a hotel in Old Goa.

He said that in order to enable the administration to assess the tax efficiency and track unauthorised structures a geographic information system (GIS) based survey has been initiated by the government.
“All the structures will come under the tax ambit and the revenue leakage will be plugged,” he said.
The Chief Minister informed that almost 60 per cent of work on the flood mitigation plan of the city comprising a flood pumping station at Mala and rejuvenation of the St Inez creek has been completed by the Smart City Mission.
Collector North Goa Mamu Hage, who is the CEO of Imagine Panaji Smart City Development Limited (IPSCDL), informed that of the total 47 projects sanctioned under the Smart City Mission 15 have been completed while 30 odd are currently being executed by the different agencies.
