PONDA: The State government has set a target to generate 150 megawatts of electricity by the year 2027. Currently, the production stands at 67 megawatts. Power Minister Ramakrishna ‘Sudin’ Dhavlikar made the announcement during the inauguration of the overhead to underground power cabling work completed at Kundaim in the Marcaim Constituency.

He noted that electricity production was previously at 19 megawatts, and since he took over as power minister, it has increased to 67 megawatts. The government is now making efforts to achieve the target of 150 megawatts, which includes generating rooftop solar power for houses under the Prime Minister’s Scheme. Solar energy will help save money for the people.
He mentioned that currently, works worth Rs 5,500 crore are being undertaken by the electricity department, including underground cabling works, with the support of the State government. Present at the event were Executive Engineer Sudan Cuncolienkar, ZP member Ganapat Naik, Kundaim Sarpanch Survesh Gaude, Marcaim Sarpanch Shailendra Panajikar, and Durbhat Adpoi Sarpanch Chandan Naik.
Additionally, Dhavalikar promised the establishment of a sewage treatment plant (STP) at Kundaim and road improvements in Marcaim after the completion of ongoing development work. He stated that land for development works would be acquired under Section 18K, as amended in the Tenancy Act and urged farmers to cooperate in resolving parking problems at Kavalem and Bandora.
