MARGAO: GPCC president Girish Chodankar has rejected the resignation of Dixon Vaz.
Girish said, “The Congress has recognised his commitment and work he has carried out during COVID pandemic to help people specially seafarers and NRIs. You are an asset to the party and party wants you to continue to work for people of Goa. We also know you can contribute a lot in Benaulim and Fatorda constituencies in particular and South Goa in general”.
Dixon said, “I have been working for the seafarers’ community for the past 10 years without any personal benefit especially when the seafarers were stuck at sea during the lockdown. But some have accused me of taking up issues to contest elections on Congress which I joined in February “.
“Therefore, I feel that I should continue my social work for the people as a normal citizen and not under any impression to contest elections,” he said.
“What Goa needs today is a selfless leaders and not to put individual and personal interest first but to work for the betterment of Goans. One can do a lot without being elected,” Dixon said.
