Guirim passengers left in the lurch as buses take highway route

Calangute: Guirim passengers are left in the lurch and have to fend for themselves ever since the construction of the new flyover.

“All buses on the Mapusa-Panjim route have been going over the new flyover at the Guirim cross junction, leaving commuters in the lurch,” stated Saligao MLA Kedar Naik.

Naik said with the highway becoming six-lane, the Mapusa-Panjim buses are taking the new flyover at Guirim. “The vehicles no longer take the service road where the bus stops are located. They go over the flyover. and this causes a lot of inconvenience to commuters specially at the Guirim cross junction who have to walk 2-3 kms to catch a bus going to Mapusa or Panjim. Senior citizens and others who don’t have their own vehicles and have to go to Mapusa market suffer the most,” Naik said.

“The buses should take the service road which is the old highway road. I have explained this to the transport minister and I hope this is sorted out soon,” Naik said.
