PANJIM: Goa Youth Forward (GYF) on Thursday petitioned Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant, Deputy Chief Minister Vijai Sardesai and Health Minister Vishwajit Rane seeking their immediate intervention in reducing the surety amount charged from students seeking admissions to graduate and post graduate courses in medicine and dentistry.
Goa Youth Forward President Raj Malik told a press conference that the letter has listed out their demand which they had raised earlier during the press conference.
Malik said the state government can charge more from the students who get enrolled under reserved category for non-Goans but the local youth should be spared from this hiked fee.
Goa Youth Forward has also said that if required, the State government can increase the duration of compulsory service rural for the MBBS graduates from two years to three years.
The organisation had earlier demanded that the fee for MBBS should be rolled back from Rs 5 lakh to Rs one lakh, while from Rs 10 lakh to Rs 5 lakh for post graduate courses.
