With rising costs of newsprint and all other services, the financials of running a newspaper need to be constantly evaluated. Herald has, for the longest period, tried its best to ensure that additional costs of newspaper production are not passed down to its readers, for whom we bring out Herald every day, come rain, thunderstorms and as you know, even fire.
We had even started charging readers a small amount for subscription to our e-paper for three months but stepped back from the decision, to allow readers to access Herald without log ins or payment.
Today we are constrained to share with you our decision to raise the price of the copy of your Herald by Re 1 wef May 2. The cover price of your paper daily will now be Rs 6. This was unavoidable in order to meet newsprint and other production costs, in order to maintain and improve the paper in all aspects to give value to our readers and advertisers.
Herald, as always will continue to march with the people of Goa and be their voice.
We once again thank you for being a part of the Herald family and call upon you to understand the constraints which forced this decision.
