Hotel sealed at Fatorda

The Commercial Tax department of the Goa government on Tuesday sealed a hotel at Fatorda this evening over non-payment of taxes.
Sleuths of the tax department descended at the hotel this evening and put a seal on the premises for the alleged default on the payment of taxes.
The hotel owner, however, has criticized the action initiated by the tax department, saying that the department has not raised any demand bill over the so-called arrears due to the department. “The tax department had taken a cheque some time back and has now sealed the premises. How will I clear the arrears put to a whopping Rs 15 lakhs without any demand notice”, the hotel owner asserted.
