A huge jungle tree came crashing down on several houses behind Busy Bee School at Desterro in the early hours of Tuesday, causing extensive damage to multiple structures, including a godown.
According to sources, the incident occurred at around 4.30 am, when the massive tree suddenly collapsed onto the houses. A senior citizen residing in one of the affected homes was immediately evacuated from the site.

Fortunately, no injuries or loss of life were reported in the incident.
Fire officer Dilip Bicholkar said the Fire and Emergency Services personnel are working to clear the fallen tree and debris. A crane has been sought from Goa Shipyard Limited (GSL) to assist in removing the massive tree.
The authorities have also informed the Mamlatdar and Talathi about the incident, while clearance and restoration work remains underway.
Resident Abid said the family had suffered losses estimated at around ₹10 lakh, with the fallen tree causing major damage to their house and property.
The incident has once again highlighted the risks posed by large trees in residential areas, particularly during adverse weather conditions.
