PANJIM: Congress’ Valpoi MLA Vishwajit Rane on Tuesday reiterated that he will contest the 2017 elections on a Congress ticket scorching speculation of him leaving the party and floating a new political outfit.
“I am going to contest the next elections on a Congress ticket. There is no possibility of me leaving the party,” Rane said reacting to media reports about plans to float a “Sattari Yuva Manch” and contest under that umbrella. “Some people were falsely spreading rumours about floating of a political outfit,” he said.
Speaking to media persons, Rane said he has been concentrating in his constituency and working for the party in Sattari taluka, which has two constituencies, one represented by him and the other by his father Pratapsingh Rane.
The MLA is, however, unhappy with the party functioning and its plans to fight the polls alone. “I still feel Congress should fight the elections in a grand alliance,” he said.
