PANJIM In a major decision that can spell doom for some former Congress ministers, the Manohar Parrikar-led government has issued directions to all the departments to file first information reports (FIR) with the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) in the alleged illegal recruitments carried out during the erstwhile Congress regime in violation of the March 2012 assembly election code of conduct.
In an order issued by General Administration Department Director Vijay Paranjapee, the secretaries and directors of all state departments have been directed to submit a detailed report on the recruitments carried out by them from November 1, 2011 to March 30, 2012 to the general administration at the earliest. The same would be forwarded to the chief minister by June 30.
The government has warned of stringent action against the department officials, who fail to submit its compliance report. The departments have also been directed to file FIR with the ACB, who has already conducted inquiry into the illegal recruitments in the departments of mines, health, agriculture, animal husbandry and Goa Medical College and Hospital.
ACB has already booked Congress leader Ravi Naik and four others in the alleged irregularities in the allotments of jobs just ahead of 2012 elections. Government has also referred illegal job recruitment in the Health, GMC and agriculture department to the Goa Lokayukta, the post that is vacant for last six months.
Over thousands of jobs were allotted with pre-dated appointment letters to people during the code process, in various departments to lure the voters ahead of assembly elections. With the elections been scheduled on March 3, 2012 the model code of conduct came into force on December 24, 2011.
While the ECI had declared over 400 jobs as ‘null and void’, BJP soon after forming the government had scrapped another 500 jobs terming it illegal.
