PANJIM: The Director of the State Information and Technology (IT) Department Ankita Anand has stated that the department is moving towards paperless working wherein people can complete their work online to avail the required services instead of having to visit the office physically with their documents. This is in line with Digital India and ease of doing business (EoDB) objectives.
Speaking about their department’s efforts towards ‘E-district’ digital initiative, she revealed that so far 151 online services have been commissioned for 24 departments of the Goa government. “This has been done across the last 4 years,” said IT Minister Jennifer Monserrate while praising the IT Director and IT department’s team work. Monserrate too reiterated the State government’s aim to move towards complete paperless work in the coming years.

Anand also informed that 11,14,773 online service transactions have been done so far and that 6,85,991 utility services have been provided.
Moreover, Anand pointed out that 17,83,094 applications have been processed online while 18,00,764 applications have been received. There have also been 96,288 unique users registered for online services in the State, Anand added.
Monserrate further touched upon the recent ‘Digilocker’ initiative that can help the student community.
“In an initiative to pave the way for a digitally empowered Goa, the Department of IT has now made it possible to access Class X & Class XII marksheets for the years 2011-2019 on Digilocker. It’s an initiative of the Ministry of Electronics & IT under Digital India Corporation and serves as a channel of access to authentic documents online through a personal digital wallet,” said Monserrate.
“Digilocker for students is a safe, secure verifiable platform bringing issued certificates directly from institution into their hands. All academic certificates issued by Goa Board, Goa University and Technical Education are now available on Digilocker,” said the IT Department team.
