MARGAO: Margao Town Police arrested 25-year-old Bilkhan Dhung, a native of Jharkhand for attempt to murder after he hit his wife Poonam Dhung with a stone on Monday.
Poonam is admitted to Goa Medical College Hospital at Bambolim.
Bilkhan apparently suspected that his wife Poonam was unfaithful to him and had a fight with her and in a fit of anger he picked up a stone and hit her on the head. He did not flee but is reported to have even gone to Hospicio where his wife was initially taken before being rushed to GMC.
Police registered the case following a complaint lodged by Vasant Varkuri from Pajifond, a supervisor at the construction site at Colmorod where the incident took place. Bilkhan has been remanded to four days police custody and a case under Section 307 of Indian Penal Code has been registered.
