PERNEM: After villagers of Bailpar-Khutwal in Kasarpane witnessed fish and crocodiles dying in the Bailpar river water due to ongoing work of construction of pump house on the river bank, the farmers have now raised concern over their crops being damaged due to discharge of oil mixed water into the bandhara water which is used for irrigation purpose in the village.
Farmers said that due to presence of oil in the water, their crops are dying further causing them losses. Farmers demanded that the concerned contractor who has taken up the work of construction of pump house should compensate them for their loss.

Vithu Naik a farmer said, “The concerned contractor has released oil in river water which is further discharged into the bandhara, which is pumped by the farmers for irrigation purpose. Even after bringing it to the notice, the contractor has not taken any action resulting in losses to the farmers”.
“Our chilly, vegetables and other crops as well as banana and other plantation is getting damaged due to this dirty water”, Sitaram Naik, a farmer said.
