The accused, Amit Rana, a suspended Border Security Force (BSF) constable, and Rishab alias Sonu, an earthmover operator, were apprehended in a joint operation. The duo allegedly kidnapped the child from near his home in Pathankot and demanded a ransom of Rs two crore from the boy’s father, a businessman.

Realising that law enforcement was closing in on them, the abductors abandoned the child in Himachal Pradesh on August 31 and fled to Goa. The Punjab Police tracked their financial transactions over several days, leading to their arrest.

The suspects were found hiding in a hotel at Cabo de Rama beach and were apprehended while attempting to withdraw money from an ATM, according to police sources.
