MAYEM: Four panchas have moved a no-confidence motion against Kudnem Sarpanch Poonam Pethkar, after alleging that she had failed to take panchas into confidence.
The signatories to the motion, Deputy Sarpanch Suresh Kamat, Sakha Malik, Rajan Falkar and Prashant Parab, have alleged that the sarpanch was not taking panchayat members into confidence.
“The sarpanch was unable to shoulder the responsibility of important works,” stated the motion notice. The other two panchas are Pramila Ghadi and Mangaldas Naik.
It may be recalled that the post of sarpanch is reserved for women and it was decided to give opportunity to both the lady panchas, Poonam Pethkar and Pramila Ghadi, by dividing the tenure of five years equally.
However, after Poonam Pethkar was given the opportunity to become the sarpanch, the members started complaining about her style of work and modus operands. The members who have signed the notice also realized that Pethkar was allegedly attempting to form another group with the help of other members in the seven-member Kudnem Panchayat.
