While the Parrikar government had in principle agreed to de-notify the land in question, after local MLA and Fisheries Minister Avertano Furtado took up cudgels for the beleaguered farmers, the land acquisitions proceedings have not been dropped yet.
Farmers willing to till the land once again after sewage water stops flowing into the Salpem fields may find themselves in a tight spot with the major chunk of the fields under acquisition. Officials in the district collectorate said the land acquisition department has received no proposal from the acquiring department to get the land acquisition de-notified.
