PANJIM: In yet another overseas job scam, a local youth has accused two persons of cheating him to the tune of Rs 23.57 lakh approx on pretext of giving him employment in the United Kingdom.
The Cyber Crime Cell of Goa Police, based on a complaint by the Sattari native, has registered FIR against Eva Loducy and Paul John. Sources said they will be contacted for questioning following which further course of action will be taken.
As per the complaint, the accused “used computer resources such as emails and bank accounts” as well as facilitation fees, etc from the victim between January and March 2021 and on July 27.
Goa Police has been in receipt of similar complaints in the recent past with authorities advising Goans to verify authenticity of the recruiters or to approach registered recruitment agencies for overseas jobs. More details in the present case are awaited.
