Locals plan demo against SGPDA fish market
HERALD REPORTER
MARGAO, NOV 13
Residents of Madel and Mungul have planned a peaceful demonstration at the SGPDA wholesale fish market on November 15.
The demonstration will protest against the nuisance and health hazards caused to them due to the filthy conditions prevailing at the wholesale fish market. The residents will assemble at the market between 8 am to 11 am to highlight the nuisance posed by the pathetic situation.
Residents contended that the SGPDA and other authorities have shown least concern to the deteriorating situation at the wholesale market
IN the past, the residents had made several request, including appeals, complaints, memorandums and ultimatums to the SGPDA, but in vain.
That’s not all. The residents have claimed that the garbage along the Margao-Seraulim road have remained unattended for a long time, adding that the wholesale fish market suffers due to absence of day-to-day maintenance.
It is not uncommon to find thermocol waste being dumped in the adjoining agricultural fields with the authorities turning a blind eye to the deplorable conditions.
