MAPUSA: The Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC), Mapusa, has issued a summon to Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convener and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in a case of alleged violation of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) for elections registered five years back.
The JMFC has asked Kejriwal to remain present before it on Wednesday, November 29.

The case was registered for violating section 123 (1) of the Representation of the People Act and section 171 B and 171 E of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
“You are hereby required to attend this Court in person along with your pleader on 29/11/2023 at 10 am. Herein fail not,” the summon read.
Meanwhile, AAP State president Adv Amit Palekar termed the summons as political vendetta and nuisance.
“We do not know what the matter is all about. It appears to be related to Assembly elections. The complaint was filed in 2018 and we are in 2023. I am surprised that the matter did not come up for hearing during the last five years. And it has come up now, just prior to elections,” he told O Heraldo.
“It is a political vendetta. You do not see such types of matters coming up against Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders. It only comes up against the leaders of the opposition parties. It’s kind of creating a nuisance on trivial political matters. I am sure that the Court would have served the summons many times during the five years but the police have them till today. Now the summon is served against a Chief Minister of a State and that too on the eve of elections,” he said.
Adv Palekar said his office will take care of the case. “We will take the copies of the summons on Wednesday and then go ahead,” he said.
