MARGAO: The Maina Curtorim police on Sunday registered offence of murder and destruction of evidence under Section 302 and 201 IPC against unknown persons for alleged murder of Clemente Gomes, 40 years, resident of Malbhat-Margao.
The brother-in-law of deceased Judy Edwin Luis, resident of Aquem filed complaint that Gomes was murdered on the intervening night of April 19 to 20.
Maina Curtorim Police PI Gurudas Kadam when contacted stated that the police received information from unknown person that a dead body was found lying naked along the roadside at an isolated place at Eklate, Curtorim .
PI Kadam along with his staff rushed to the spot and found that the deceased had sustained injuries on his nose, mouth and head.
The deceased was identified by Judy and also on the basis of driving licence found along with the body.
The police suspect that deceased to have been murdered at some other place and to destroy evidence the accused dumped the body in the isolated place at Curtorim.
Further investigation in the case is being carried by PI Kadam under supervision of DySP Mohan Naik and South Goa SP Vijay Singh.
Meanwhile, Curtorim MLA Alexio Reginaldo Loureco demanded a through inquiry into the murder case.
He rushed to the spot after hearing the news of the murder and demanded that the culprits be brought to book immediately.
