PANJIM: South Goa Planning & Development Authority (SGPDA) has adopted the Land Use Map and Register of Margao and Ponda Planning Area under Section 27(4) and 27(5) of Town & Country Planning Act, 1974. SGPDA had prepared the land use map and published it in newspapers earlier this year.
A gazette notification issued here says that the SGPDA had requested Ponda Municipal Council and Margao Municipal Council to display the present Land Use Map and Register of Planning Areas in their office for the information of the public.
Subsequently, the notification says, under Section 27(3) of Town & Country Planning Act, 1974, the Sub-Committee was appointed to hear the public objections and make a report to the South Goa Planning & Development Authority.
The Sub-Committee heard the concerned persons who have filed their objection to the present Land Use Map and Register and prepared the report.
“Under Section 27(4) of Town & Country Planning Act, 1974 the Sub-Committee placed the report in its 73rd Authority Meeting held on 28-8-18. The Authority considered the report of Sub-Committee and Authority unanimously resolved to adopt the said Land Use Map and Register of Ponda Planning Area,” it says.
Further, the notifications says, the copies of Present Land Use Map and Register of Ponda Planning Area may be inspected at the office of South Goa Planning and Development Authority, Ponda and Margao.
Alleging that the land use map for Margao has been prepared without following the town planning norms, prominent citizens of Margao had demanded the South Goa Planning and Development Agency (SGPDA) to redraw the land use map.
TCP Minister Vijai Sardesai had assured of having a land use map for preparing the outline development plan (ODP). The task was outsourced to a private agency at a cost of Rs 17 lakh.
