MARGAO: Thirty-two candidates on Monday filed 35 nominations for the Margao Municipal Council (MMC) elections.

These included 13 candidates fielded by the Goa Forward Party and eight candidates of the Bharatiya Janata Party. Journalist Pratik Parab filed his nomination as independent.
The BJP-backed candidates are Kalidas Naik in Ward 2, Deepashri Kurdikar in Ward 5, Milagrina Gomes in Ward 7, Narmada in Ward 9, Dr Sushanta Kurtarkar in Ward 13, Anisha Naik in Ward 16, Harmalkar Mangala Vithal in Ward 19 and Satardekar Damodar (Sachin) in Ward 21.
The Goa Forward Party backed candidates are Joanes Francis Agnelo (Ward 1), Crasto Joao (Jhonny) Nicolau (Ward 2), Pereira Lyndon Fredy (Ward 3), ex-chairperson Naik Pooja Parmesh (Ward 4), Lotlikar Shweta Sujay (Ward 5), Naik Pravin Jana (Ward 6), Dias Custodio (Ward 7), Milagre (Milu) Noronha (Ward 8), Naik Ravindra (Raju) (Ward 9) Tavares Victorina (Vitorino) (Ward 10) Naik Raju (Ward 11), Faleiro Nimesia (Ward 23) and Ashma Bi (Ward 25)
As many as four candidates — Hazare Mahadev Narsinv, Naik Ravindra alias Raju, Kundaikar Navmedar Viddesh and Oliveira Manuel –filed their nominations from Ward 9 (general category).
In Wards 7, 11 and 24 which are general category, three candidates filed nominations. The candidates in Ward 7 are Gomes Milagrina, Dias Custodio and Dias Melshawn while in Ward 11 the candidates are Ravane Rajiv Gayneshwar, Naik Raju and Angelis Pereira.
In ward 24 the three candidates are Shirodkar Reshma Raju, Shirodkar Raju alias Hadlee and Parab Pratik Vasudev. Reshma Shirodkar has apparently filed her nomination as a dummy to Hadlee and is expected to withdraw it.
In Wards 2, 3 and 5 two candidates have filed their nominations. In ward 2 (OBC) Naik Kalidas Chandrakant and Crasto Joao alias Jhonny Nicolau have filed their nominations while in Ward 3 (General) the two candidates are Pereira Lyndon Fredy and Sayyad Reshma.
In 10 wards one candidate filed nomination and they are Joanes Francis Agnelo (Ward 1), Pooja Naik (Ward 4), Noronha Milagre alias Milu (Ward 8), Tavares Victorina alias Vitorino (Ward 10), Dr Suhsanta Kurtarkar (Ward 13), Ronita Ajgaonkar (Ward 14), Naik Anisha (Ward 16), Harmalkar Mangala (Ward 19), Satardekar Damodar alias Sachin (Ward 21) and Ashma Bi (Ward 25).
Former councilor Rajendra Ajgaonkar’s daughter Ronita Ajgaonkar filed her second set of nominations.
