Mickky is NCP candidate for Nuvem: Supporters

In an interesting development on the eve of the birthday bash of former Minister Mickky Pacheco, supporters of the Benaulim MLA have categorically asserted that Pacheco would contest the next Assembly polls on the NCP ticket from Nuvem Assembly constituency.
Interacting with newsmen on Friday to unveil the program on Pacheco’s birthday on December 12, his personal assistant and member of the Benaulim-Nuvem Felicitation Committee, Lyndon Monteiro said that Pacheco is a senior party leader, having won the polls on the NCP banner twice in the last five years and exuded confidence that the NCP leadership would nominate Pacheco in the Nuvem constituency.
“Questions are being raised on Mickky contesting from Nuvem and on which ticket. One should understand that Mickky is firmly with the NCP and would contest the coming polls from Nuvem on the NCP. The Benaulim MLA has already informed the party high command on his desire to contest from Nuvem”, Lyndon told newsmen.
He said in the event of seat sharing with the Congress, the NCP leadership would certainly take note of the Pacheco’s desire and accommodate him in Nuvem.
When newsmen questioned Monteiro on the response from the former Minister if the plea to contest the polls from Nuvem finds no favour with the NCP leadership or scuttled by the Congress, Monteiro declined to outline the next course of action, saying that the supporters are confident that Pacheco would be fielded by the party from Nuvem.
Meanwhile, Chairperson of the Benauluim-Nuvem Felicitation Committee 2010, ZP Member Nelly Rodrigues has said that Pacheco’s supporters have decided to felicitate the MLA for his services to the people. “Pacheco’s himself was not in favour of a big celebrations, but the people did not listen”, she said.
Rodrigues said the former minister will be felicitated at the hands of Bollywood star Neha Dhupia, adding that the Committee has invited Union Civil Aviation Minister, Praful Patel, leaders of the NCP and other party leaders for the birthday celebrations.
Committee vice-chairman ZP member Domnic Gaonkar, organizing secretary ZP member Wilfred D’Sa, Benaulim Sarpanch Carmelina Fernandes and Betalbatim Sarpanch Minguel Pereira were present for the press briefing.
