Vasco: Days after local MLA Carlos Almeida appealed to the Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant to implement a total lockdown in Vasco to curtail the spread of COVID-19 pandemic to other parts of Mormugao taluka, Minister for Transport Mauvin Godinho on Sunday made a similar appeal to the chief minister.
Godinho in a press note, said, “Considering the galloping COVID cases linked to Mangor Hill and its obvious impact on whole of Mormugao taluka in the first place, lockdown is inevitable and Chief Minister Sawant has to take immediate steps in this direction to ensure that the pandemic does not spread further to other parts of Mormugao taluka and also in other parts of Goa.”
The minister further said, he is of the opinion that the disease could be contained and brought under control by taking all the precautionary and preventive measures and as such total lockdown is needed in entire Vasco with immediate effect.
“The people should also follow all the health measures and guidelines issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs and Health authorities by maintaining social distancing, wearing face masks and also by using sanitisers from time to time. It is the duty of the people to remain cautious and alert to contain the spread of COVID-19. The people should cooperate with government”, the minister said.
