PANJIM: Following a series of complaints of faulty LED fixtures installed by the contractor, the government has decided not to issue any further work order unless the work already awarded is completed.
Speaking to Herald, Power Minister Pandurang Madkaikar said his office has asked the Electricity Department for a ground report on the installation of LED fixtures, with figures of how many have been installed and what is the additional requirement.
“The new work order shall depend on whatever work order was given to them, the maintenance being properly done or whether it is pending, and whether CCM machines are installed or not. If that order is not completed then there is no purpose of issuing an additional work order,” Madkaikar said.
He said that the Goa Legislative Assembly had been assured that an attempt would be made to complete replacing all streetlights with LED fixtures across Goa but this could not be done, as due to the code of conduct the department could not issue an additional work order.
“I have now asked for a report of how many LED fixtures have been installed and how many are pending. The ground report on this will be available to us in the next 4 to 5 days and after the report comes we will get a clear picture of how many have been fitted and what is the additional requirement,” Madkaikar said.
The Power Minister also said that as per the contractor the first order of 1,66,000 fittings have been completed and that an additional requirement of another 15,000 to 20,000 would be required to complete the work across the State.
