MAPUSA: Porvorim MLA Rohan Khaunte and the affected farmers on Thursday inspected Tar Bridge work at Gaunswaddo and threatened to launch an agitation if the PWD officials fail to rectify water blockage caused due to dumping of mud within a week.
Farmers of Guirim, Socorro and surrounding areas complained that they are unable to cultivate their fields due to flooding. They alleged that the highway contractor has dumped all the mud into the river which has blocked the flow of water. The farmers approached the Khaunte who along with them and highway officials inspected the site at Gaunswaddo, Mapusa to check the flow of water.

The inspection revealed that the river was not desilted as it was knee deep instead of 1.5 metres depth as claimed by the contractor.
