MLA for more time to finalise CZMP

MARGAO: Stating that all the errors in Coastal Zone Management Plan (CZMP) need to be rectified, Curtorim MLA Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco on Saturday urged for more time to finalise the plan.
In a letter to Minister for Environment Nilesh Cabral complimented the government on the statement that August 31 is the final date to submit the CZMP but will seek more time to finalise the plan.
“You have also said that the people are helping us to make the plan. This plan is not made in the air. It is heartening to note that our State government has finally decided to make the CZMP, a people’s plan wherein all suggestions from Goemkars will be assimilated,” he stated.
The MLA reminded the government that coastal villages of Goa including Curtorim, Raia, Rachol, and Camurlim village in Curtorim Constituency had rejected draft and had highlighted errors in the CZMP 2021.
He said that in the earlier letter he had requested that it was important to pay heed to the March 4, 2021, gram sabha resolution of Curtorim Village Panchayat which had demanded to scrap the new draft CZMPs sent to the panchayat and adopt the CZMPs prepared by the village panchayat and submitted in 2019 as the draft CZMPs and also reschedule the public hearings and hold them after the draft CZMPs prepared by the people and panchayats are notified as to the draft CZMPs for our villages.
“As our State government has decided to request the National Green Tribunal (NGT) for more time from the August 31, 2021 deadline fixed by it (NGT). Therefore, I appeal that all errors in the CZMP 2021 for Curtorim, Raia, Rachol, and for Camorlim village in Curtorim Constituency and similarly all errors in the CZMP 2021 in all other parts of our State must be rectified without any further delay,” he urged.
